Let’s Talk Figma Because Sometimes, We Have To
Figma is powerful but it’s not the strategy. Here’s what clients need to know about using Figma vs. other tools in the creative process.
There’s a good chance that if you’re hiring out creative or web work, someone on your team or someone you’re hiring has asked:
“Can we do this in Figma?”
The short answer? Sure. If that’s what your process requires, I’ve got it covered.
But let’s be clear: Figma is a tool. A good one. But it’s not the magic. The magic is in the strategy, the design thinking, the user flow, the messaging, and how all of that actually performs once it’s live.
And that’s where I come in.
What Figma Is (and What It Isn’t)
Figma is a collaborative design tool that allows multiple stakeholders to review and comment on creative work whether it’s a website, a mobile app, or a digital campaign. It’s clean, efficient, and widely used by in-house and agency teams who want a centralized hub for visual work.
But it’s not a shortcut. It doesn’t write copy, build strategy, or make branding decisions. It’s just a digital workspace and I’m just as comfortable working in it as I am designing directly in platforms like Elementor, Webflow, or other build environments.
My Approach: Strategy First, Tools Second
I’ve worked with agencies and enterprise teams that require Figma files, version control, and prototyping flows.
I’ve also worked with small teams who just want to see the final designs ready to launch.
Here’s how I approach it:
If you have a design system in Figma – great. I’ll plug into your process.
If you prefer fast buildouts in Elementor or Webflow, I’m already there.
If you’re not sure what you need, I’ll make the recommendation based on the project’s goals, timeline, and team structure.
Because tools should support the process, not define it.
What Clients Need to Know
You don’t need to know Figma. You just need a creative lead who can manage the design process clearly whatever the tool may be.
If your internal design team lives in Figma, I’ll speak their language.
If you’re working solo and want to skip the extra steps, I’ll streamline the path.
My job isn’t to add complexity, it’s to make your brand stronger, your site smarter, and your creative workflow actually work.
Managing Teams That Use Figma
If you’re overseeing a team or working with multiple vendors, Figma can be helpful for:
Centralized feedback
Version tracking
Visual prototyping
Developer handoff
If your team’s already using it, great, I’ll jump in. If not, I’ll guide us to the best setup for your project. Either way, we’ll get results.
Final Word: I’m Tool-Agnostic. Results-Obsessed.
Figma, Canva, Elementor, Webflow, PowerPoint on a rainy day, I’ve used them all.
But let’s not confuse a file format with a strategy.
I’m here to lead the creative process with clarity and confidence, regardless of the platform. So if your team’s set on Figma, I’m ready. And if you’re not, we won’t force it.
Need a strategic creative lead who can adapt to your systems or help you build better ones? The In-House Advantage was made for you.
